This proves nothing. Of course Grenth's side can beat Dwayna's. Of course Grenth teams have a chance to have a flawless victory. It happens. There are more factors than just balance that determine these things (number of players that actually are playing, lag, experience of players, teamwork, players actually getting presents and not just killing, etc).

But the truth is that Avalanche > Yellow Snow. There can be no questioning this when someone who has even the slightest clue about skills looks at them. How much does this factor into the actual game chances of winning/losing? It's impossible to say. But the fact of the matter is that if you have two teams that are fairly even at teamwork/knowledge of Snowball Arena, then most likely Dwayna's team is going to win because their special skill becomes more vital for an arena based on movement. Long casting time, cancelling of Hidden Rock, and use of disease all make Yellow Snow undesirable to use.

As many have said, 1 sec cast will make a big difference in how effective Yellow Snow is. Of course ANet doesn't care though because if it's not GW2 or high-level PvP, why balance it? People care about Snowball Arena because they want Gamer Points and want to have fun, but apparently they don't matter because they aren't farming DoA or GvGing or something...

First off, the two skills are balanced, they just have completely different strategies. Avalanche's strategy is pretty straight forward, so any idiot can figure out how to use it decently, whereas Yellow Snow takes much more skill to use properly, and incorrect use will hurt you more then help. You just need more practice, then you'll understand why Yellow Snow is really effective.

Playing it for a laugh would mean it has no other value. Because it is about the only way to get any shards for whatever - it ceases to be played for a laugh. Shards drop about as often as Greater Guardian Spears. They are so rare as drops that you are FORCED to PvP for them. That makes it serious. The quests for them take so long as to be unworth the time. In about 3 hours you can find your 6 presents for Kringle, and that is if you are constantly tapping the *;* to make the blank box show up. Between quests and drops I have managed to get about 50 since all this started. That is piss poor pitiful crap for something that is supposed to be increasing *fun*. When you can't get shit it is not fun.

If you are getting a college degree, or certified professionally in Snowball Arena fighting tactics then memorizing the intricate effects of temporary once a year skills (among the 1200 plus skills in game) might make sense. As this is Not the point to peoples incomes - but their entertainment, setting up junk that is imbalanced at basic play level is inappropriate. If the Arenas were not the primary way to obtain shards because the drop ratios (on almost everything anyway) are useless to players that are not pimps (street corner salesmen) or ebaying for gold so they can afford 100k+250 ecto purchases twice a week (yes - Slight exageration) then it wouldnt matter. The difference is a game to include casual players or not - and in fun based holiday arenas requiring professional level Elite play to use skills overwhich you have no choice about is also inappropriate.

Use/strategy isn't the point. Both are effective. The imbalance comes from Yellow Snow having too many drawbacks for use. The penalty is far more than it should be.

People care about different things in the game. Do you HAVE to waste your time posting in a thread you don't care about? Sounds like you have nothing better to do with your time.

Like any other skill in the game, stay away from the drawbacks and abuse the benefits. When we used to play SB arena, we'd go on consec streaks untill we got bored, never comming close to losing. Yellow Snow is really effective because everyone (even then) thought it wasn't, so nobody gave it much thought.

If yellow snow were a poison effect - then it would be worth the drawbacks. Not as a disease effect.

Does not need balancing.

Needs more people with skill on BOTH sides.... because ALL of you suck at any form of PvP other than events. GG

Last I checked, MOST people that are playing Snowball Arena are having a blast. I would gather that it is the very, very, very small minority that is not having fun in Snowball Arena due to Yellow Snow having a 2 second cast.

Yes, the molehill may seem like a mountain, if you look at it with a microscope...

Darn, you posted it before I could.
